Avery-Devlog - Milestone #3

For this milestone, I finished the last major part of the HUD - the structures bar - ,  set up a basic main menu, pause menu, and screens for winning and losing the game, implemented placeholder tutorial popups, and made some small tweaks to the functionality of some of the existing UI. Initially, we planned on the structures bar, which shows what structure you have selected, along with the previous and next structure in the list, to be more of a wheel, but I thought a bar would work better with the unlimited number of structures we may implement. The main menu allows you to start the game, showing off a basic level select screen, and the win and lose screens are separate scenes that allow you to retry or quit the game. The pause menu allows players to pause, quit the game, return to the main menu, and look over the (PC) controls whenever they'd like.

Finally, the tutorial popups were more of a hassle than expected, and became the main thing I focused on going forward in this semester. SporeFall has a lot of controls, and we needed a way to show off at least some of those in-game, rather than explaining them directly to our testers. The ones I set up for this milestone were a quick band-aid solution, and were very lacking, basically just dumping a few controls on the player every few seconds. This gave me a clear direction that I needed to take for the rest of this semester, since we now had all of the core UI and menu things we'd need for a while.
